If I had to name some common denominators of what is underway at 6th
DimensionTM,
I would say that they are "energy", synthesis, a spiritual focus,
a commitment to healing through the arts, movement, and healing practices,
and a deeply felt impulse to take subtle action in respect of humanitarian
and planetary concerns.
The genesis of a space for the arts and healing harks back almost
25 years to a time when I helped a chiropractor establish herself
by setting her up in the front section of my art studio, while I continued
with teaching Tai Chi at the studio and intensive creative work at
the rear of the studio. More recently, significant events in my own
life brought me to direct involvement in healing work as a practitioner,
and in 2004 to the manifestation of a space for the arts and healing
where the frequency work continues. Hence, 6th
DimensionTM
, a space for the arts and healing.
To me, healing through energy medicine, the arts, and spirituality
are inseparable, just as the energy source from which they all spring
is indivisible. Unifying aspects of these all under the umbrella of
6th
DimensionTM
, in several of their forms of expression and manifestation in this
creation - Polarity
Therapy, Cranio-Sacral Therapy, Tai
Chi, Inter-Dimensional Yoga
Plus™, Therapeutic Movement, the creative
arts, other healing work, and other specialized arts still
under development for 6th
DimensionTM
- melds these elements into a whole and facilitates making them accessible
to others. Bringing into 6th
DimensionTM
other professionals who are qualified in related areas of expertise
is part of this.
Integral to my thirty five years as a creative
artist , which have been very
much focused on light, movement, and spirituality, I have been involved
in other forms of energy arts, especially those from Asia where I
have spent significant periods of my life.
My interdisciplinary impulses saw me involved in Yoga at 15. Finding
Asian movement modalities to be a natural fit for me and living the
idea of "Stillness Within Movement"TM,
I subsequently became involved in Tai Chi and Chi Kung in 1978 and
received grading as an instructor (black belt, 8th degree) in 1986.
This was really the beginning of my teaching movement as an energy
art, for Tai Chi is often referred to as an internal energy art. Simultaneously,
I studied in depth the healing aspects of Tai Chi and Chi Kung. Many
of the postures have direct beneficial effects on various organs and
ailments.
Later, while living in Japan, I was studying Asian musical instruments
(koto, shamisen, and subsequently ku cheng), as well as becoming involved
in alternative healing modalities. Soon after, building on earlier
undergraduate training in Fine Arts and Graduate training in Material
Anthropology, this interdisciplinary impulse pushed on into a PhD
that spanned cultural and sensory planes, delving into the visual,
musical, and proprioceptive arts and philosophies of Asia, then synthesizing
them with those of the West. As part of this work, I researched the
frequencies of sound, color, light, and subtle frequencies beyond
the reach of human senses.
It
is my deepest wish and intention that this space, and the activities
within it, contribute to the planetary shift and uplift that is surging
into manifestation on many levels and in many arenas as part of the
rebalancing of, and on, the planet. It is the ripples-on-a-pond
theory in action...
Old
pond
Frog jumps in
Sound of water...
